Ash Hill Arts Juried Show

Ash Hill Center for the Arts is pleased to announce our annual Juried Exhibition, In Sight. It will take place at the Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main Street in Jaffrey. Ash Hill is reaching out to other art organizations in the region, establishing reciprocal arrangements and sharing ideas and mutual interests in visual, performance and musical arts, as well as special events for adults and families. Our members reside in all areas around Mt Monadnock, and we believe that holding our 2018 juried exhibit at the Jaffrey Civic Center promotes great exposure and opportunity for all Ash Hill members.

Non-members may also enter for a fee of $35. The Juror is Pam Tarbell, Owner of the Mill Brook Gallery and Sculpture Gardens in Concord. Monadnock Woodturners Club - Opening Reception

Show continues for two weeks

Monadnock Woodturners was started in 1995 as a gathering of people with a common interest in woodturning.  The group provides an opportunity for education, discussion and sharing of knowledge concerning the art/craft of woodturning.  Additionally, the organization aims to promote woodturning to the general public.

Membership is open to people of all ages and turning ability.  Additionally, people who have an interest in woodturning, but do not woodturning themselves, are certainly welcome.  Meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May.

Over 70 woodturners in the Monadnock Region have joined our email list and attend meetings when the agenda meets their specific interests.  A core group of twenty-five 'regular attendees' pay voluntary dues of ten dollars per year and become supporting members.  The dues is used for activities which benefit and enhance our mission.  For more information, email : monadnockwoodturners@gmail .com  .

Leather Sculpting Workshop

Dec 16 & 17  1:00-3:30 pm

Two part workshop to allow for overnight drying,  $45 fee

Mixed-media maker, Rachel Rudman, will be using recycled leather and leaf patterns to teach some basic approaches to leather sculpting.

The workshop requires two afternoon sessions to prepare, dry and finish leather projects.

These unique leather sculpted leaves, made by you, can be used to embellish bags, candles and hostess gifts creating a one-of-a-kind present.  Wrapped gifts become more interesting when the leaves are included in the bow.  Grouped and placed in a bowl they become a surprising decorative feature.  A single leaf is a rare treasure.

Georgia O'Keeffe Paints Paradise

The award-winning Alchemists’ Workshop musical
by Will Ogmundson and Tom Dunn

Starring Mary Armstrong and Rose Kosciuszek

Sunday, December 3rd at 2 pm
$15 adults/$10 children and seniors suggested donation

Famed painter Georgia O’Keeffe spent three months in Hawaii courtesy of the Dole Company just before WWII and was supposed to “do for the pineapple what she had done for the iris”.  She never got around to painting pineapples but did a great number of other paintings as she toured the islands with the teen daughter of Dole’s biggest plantation owner. New London composer Will Ogmundson Henniker librettist, Tom Dunn have gotten permission to adapt a series of letters that the girl and Georgia traded back and forth over the next 40+ years.  These letters deal with art, growing up, education, romance and a non-traditional friendship.

The artists involved include New England Emmy award winner Will Ogmundson.  His work as a composer and pianist has been heard all over the state and whenever he writes a new musical there is a great deal of interest in the work.  Mary Armstrong is playing Georgia O’Keeffe, she is an award winning professional actress from Harrisville.  Rose Koscizeukis a very talented twelve year old singer with a growing reputation all over New Hampshire.  This musical is her professional debut. The designer is Bob Robertson who runs the video production department at Dartmouth and is an expert at turning two-dimensional imagery into exciting, three-dimensional graphic design.

After touring New Hampshire the non-profit theatre company, Alchemists' Workshop, brought the work to NYC's International Theatre Festival last summer where Rose won the Festival's off-off-Broadway equivalent of the Tony as best supporting actress and Will won for his lyrics.  (Mary and Tom won producer awards also.)

The performance in Swanzey at The Ash Hill Center for the Arts is the production's first performance back in NH since their triumphant performance in NYC.
